Working out in your living room

How convenient is it for you to work out on your own time and place? You can watch TV, listen to music, and make as much sound as you want. There are some cons to this as well. If you are by yourself, you generally will quit more when you are tired since no one is there to push you.  There will be no one to help you with your problems.

Some pros are if you want anything like a beverage then you won’t have to wait. You will also save money by not taking a class and you can do whatever you want.

The best thing about exercising with a trampoline is that its easy! You probably won’t admit it, but if it’s hard you won’t want to do it.

You know the common saying “no pain, no gain.” Yeah, well disregard it. It doesn’t apply to working out with a trampoline.

Rebound Aerobics

What is rebound aerobics?  Rebound Aerobics is a fun workout based on a mini trampoline that burns fat and improves your balance and coordination. Your overall conditioning will be better and your body will be toned out.

You say that you will start working out, that you will sacrifice some free time to become slimmer and stronger. But sometimes your schedule won’t allow you to work out or you just get sick of the same activites everyday. With rebound aerobics, you can have the hot body you always wanted all at the comfort of working out and your own home. Actually let’s not even use the term “working out.” This phrase makes it seem like you are working and that you’re going out to do it. With rebound aerobics, you won’t be working to get stronger, you will be havinfg fun instead. You won’t even notice that you’re working out. Think of it as a fun and entertaining activity that allows your body to be in the best shape possible!

This fun activity doesn’t require many equipment as well. It is advised for you to wear athletic shoes such as tennis shoes to provide traction and support for your ankles. You can go barefoot if you want. It’s really up to you! Also wear supportive clothing since you are jumping.

Rebound Aerobics is also safe as well. A mini trampoline has low impact so it won’t let you jump five feet in the air. Jogging on a rebounder is the equivalent of jogging on a wooden surface. Don’t have any fear of falling off. At first, you may feel uneasy on the mini trampoline but your body will adjust. And if you fall off, it won’t hurt as much since you aren’t high up.

Make sure you stretch thoroughly before bouncing. You don’t want to pull muscles or cause any injuries you could have prevented. You will also have full use of your range of motion leading to more fun and effectiveness in your exercise. This will be essential to train your cardiovascular system.

Kids Folding Trampoline – Galt or The Original Toy Company?

Often time, buyers are confused about the two kids trampolines from Elmer’s Products (formally known as Galt) and The Original Toy Company. Are the Galt trampoline and The Original Toy Company trampoline the same item or are they 2 different items? They look virtually identical and have the same product descriptions, but are listed on many trampoline web sites as two different items. Even worse, the Galt Trampoline is listed on Amazon as 5 separate items.

The answer to above question is partly “Yes” and partly “No”. Galt Trampoline and The Original Toy Company trampolines are manufacturered from a same design, so they are virtually the same product at the present time but manufactured by two different companies. The Original Toy Company used to be a distributor of Galt Toys, (a United Kingdom company), and operated under the name of Galt America. In 2008, Galt Toys was acquired by an American Company, Elmer’s Product, and therefore they do not need a distributor in North America; and hence separation of The Original Toy Company and Galt Toys. Susan and Kevin, the owners of Galt Distributor (”Galt America”) found a new company called The Original Toy Company, and manufactured the trampoline under its own name. Due to copyright issues, The Original Toy Company had to make a few design changes and manufacture a different trampoline than the Galt Trampoline.

The real difference between the two trampolines is the color of the frame (handle bar and legs). The Original Toy Company trampoline has the blue frame, while Galt Trampoline has the red frame.

Rebounding Exercises

When we were kids, we used to jump up and down the bed, sofa, and anything we can imagine. Kids love bouncing, and it’s a great workout. With advancement in technology, we have the things called trampolines and inflatable bouncers that will allow kids to bounce without breaking things around the house. Excercising on a mini trampoline will bring back your childhood memories. The bouncing exercise, also called rebounding, is gentle on the joints and gives you a good body workout. Trampolines are a fun way to workout.

Bouncing on a mini trampoline is called rebounding. Unlike regular trampolining, the aim isn’t to bounce high or perform gymnastic tricks. Rebounding is a series of small, controlled bouncing movements on a mini trampoline.

If you haven’t bounced in a while, it will take you some time to get used to bouncing on a mini trampoline. Be sure to wear something comfortable and non-slipping shoes. Start out with warm-ups (health bouncing), and rebound at a slow-to-moderate pace for a few days until you get used to the mini trampoline and trampoline exercises. Also, limit yourself to a few minutes of exercises at a time to allow your body to get used to trampoline exercise.

There are several types of trampoline exercises: aerobic and jassercise to name a couple. Doing aerobics on trampoline will not only give the benefits of solid aerobic exercise but also offer you fun while exercising. Another form of trampoline exercise is combining different types of workouts such as jazzercise. Dancing on a trampoline was once popular and still very widely practices trampoline exercise. You may also try stiff and hard-core workouts on a mini trampoline. This form of trampoline exercise involves a series of different jump heights, movements of different body parts and twists and turns of the body while constantly keeping a steady jump on a trampoline. You may also apply different jump patterns (i.e. health bounce, aerobic hop, and power/advanced jump) to obtain workout on different body parts. Health bouncing is a warm up jumps that cat be used to warm up your body before main trampoline exercise begins, and also used to cool down from power jumps. The aerobic hop is a mid-strength jumps that will get you ready for hard-core exercise. The power jumps are more strenuous workouts that are used in strength training and muscle building.

Listed below are a few rebounding exercises that you can try at home.

•Health Bouncing: Basic walk on a trampoline is a good warm-up and cool-down exercises. Stand in the center of the mini trampoline with feet slightly appart. This is a basic starting stance for all rebounding exercises. From basic starting stance, lift your hills alternately and do not lift your toes off the trampoline. Swing your arms as if you’re walking.
•Aerobic Hop: Basic bounce and basic jog are two forms of exercise that are fun and raise your heart rate. (Basic bounce) From basic starting stance, lightly bounce without lifting your feet off the trampoline. If necessary, use a balance bar or wall to help balance yourself. As you’re more comfortable with bouncing, lift your feet off the trampoline and slowly increase the height as you feel more comfortable. (Basic Jog) From basic starting stance, lift each foot an inch or two off the trampoline alternately. Swing your arms as if you’re jogging.
•Advanced Bouncing: (Heel-Toe bounce) From basic starting stance, bring your feet close together. While bouncing, bring your left foot forward and touch your heel to the surface and raise your left arm up in front of you. Repeat this for the right foot. (Jumping Jack Bounce) From basic starting stance, bounce up, spread your feet apart and bring your hands over your head — much like jumping jack on the hard surface. To make exercise more challenging, go faster and bounce higher.

Trampoline Pads

Jumping on a trampoline is fun for everyone, and also provides great workout. However, using trampoline can be dangerous if safety precautions are not followed. Over 100,000 injuries are reported from trampoline use every year, and that number is increasing. To prevent trampoline injuries, preventative accessories such as trampoline enclosure with safety net, trampoline pads, trampoline mats (beds) may be added to your trampoline setup.

As described in Trampoline Enclosure article, trampoline enclosure with safety net prevents jumpers from falling off the trampoline. Especially, enclosures with nets inside the padding will prevent jumpers landing on edges of the trampoline protecting your kids from severe injuries. In addition to trampoline enclosure, safety pads also add safety to your trampoline by covering metal edges of the trampoline. Almost all trampolines come with safety pads, but not all safety pads are made equal. Trampoline safety pads are available in various shapes and sizes, and are covered by PVC that protects from UV rays. Over a period of time, safety pads do wear out and require replacement.

If you’re in a market for new safety pads, you may want to consider safety features of the pads equally important as with the price. Trampoline pads cover edges of the trampoline that are made of metal, where a lot of jumpers could land. Landing too close to medal edge of the trampoline can result in broken ankels, sprained wrists, or demage nect or spines. Trampoline safety pads will help reduce the chance of getting injury from landing on metal edges of the trampoline. Some of the safety feature to be considered on the safety pads include:

•Made of at least 1-inch thick layer of closed cell polyethylene form. This layer should be protected by a durable cover that is resistant to UV deterioration.
•Find the safety pads that fits your trampoline. Loose trampoline pads may not be able to protect landing injuries.
Using trampoline enclosures and safety pads will protect your kids from injuries but they’re not foolproof. When using trampoline, be sure to follow all safety guidelines and use them properly. Follow person and weight limits (per manual), and whenever possible try avoid placing too many kids in a trampoline at the same time. You should also inspect your trampoline, and accessories for damages periodically. Inspect resiliency of the springs, trampoline fabric, signs of rust, tearing on the mat, and bouncyness of the trampoline.
